How
to Survive a Protest March
The surest way to survive a
protest march is to not attend one in the first place. But if you must
attend, the following pre-cautions may save you from serious bodily injury
or even death. Continue reading...
Interview
With Seun Osewa
Founder of Nairaland.com
Nairaland.com has for some time now remained king of web traffic rankings among the top most visited websites owned by a Nigerian. At number 8 (based on the top 100 websites in Nigeria rankings by Alexa as of March 17, 2011), the online forum currently outranks Twitter and Windows live in popularity in Nigeria and is just below
Wikipedia. Continue...
German007
vs Osama10
On February 8, 2011 Osama10
of Nairaland opened a thread alleging that German007 also of Nairaland has
failed to deliver a car he ordered since September 2010. But the matter
appears not to be as simple as that. Below is Osama10's allegation and
German007's response reproduced verbatim (dealer XXX in the title below
turned out to be German007). Continue...
The
Best Time to Buy a Car
Having studied the US car
auctions for the past two years, I can now say that this is the best time
to buy a car from the US. There are primarily two reasons for this...Continue
A
Note on PT Cruiser
The Nigerian Customs categorizes Chrysler
PT Cruiser as a jeep not a car. This means that if you bring one in, they
will charge you the same price as a Pathfinder or 4Runner. I was not aware
of this and learnt it the hard way.
Addendum: For the record, I was
charged 350,000 Naira for a 2004 PT Cruiser.

Auto
Section Needs An Arbitrator
The ongoing matter of Ayusman vs Banix
has exposed the need for an arbitrator in the Auto Section. An arbitrator
is defined as “a private neutral person chosen to settle a dispute”.
It does not involve courts or lawyers. Most web sites where goods are
bought and sold have one. I believe it is time we appoint somebody to act
in that capacity. If possible, Monitor_1 should be given that position...Continue

The
Most Expensive Car on Nairaland
On August 9, 2010, Inspired started a
thread titled Most
Expensive Pre Order Vehicle Ever On Nairaland.... The thread had no
other information except a sign that read "Photo Coming Soon".
This practically threw the Auto Section of Nairaland into a state of
suspense as members became eager for more information. Inspired did not
help matters as he gave no hints in subsequent posts...Continue

Nairaland
Spambot
Nairaland like most forums, has a computer software that prevents users
from posting spam on the site. This software is called a SpamBot. SpamBots
can sometimes be over-active and prevent the posting of relevant
educational materials. On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, I tried to post the
article below several times on Nairaland without success. Each time I
post it, it disappears...Continue
Splitting the Auto Section
In recent days, some Nairaland users have called for a split of the
Auto Section into two or more sections. This call is largely due to the
fact that the Auto Section has been gradually descending into a state of chaos...Continue

Nairaland Suffers Hardware Failure
Nairaland.com was
offline for the better part of Wednesday May 12, 2010 leaving thousands of
regular users restless. In an internet posting on the same day,
Seun Osewa the owner of Nairaland explained
that the site suffered a "server crash".
According to him, the problem was
resolved with the installation of a 3
day old backup disc. As a result, postings made on May 10 and 11 were lost.
If you opened a thread or responded to one on those dates, you may have
been affected.
